New CIS fraud provisions take effect; HMRC targets payroll fraud

New CIS fraud provisions in the Construction Industry Scheme took effect on 6 April, and HMRC is warning contractors as it targets payroll fraud. For a Manchester accounting practice serving small construction companies, this raises the compliance stakes around payroll and subcontractor status.

Every trend reads the same way, so you can judge it in a minute.

    1

    When to act

Act in 6 months, plan for 2 years, or keep an eye on it. Some can wait, and we say which.

    2

    How sure we are

Well-evidenced: several independent publishers agree. Developing signal: real but thin. Watch, don't bet.

    3

In plain words, saying no more than the sources do.

    Who it is for

Built for anyone who has to stay ahead of a market.

    Business owners and organizations

From a local shop to an international organization: know what's changing around you before it costs you.

    Consultants

Give a client a sourced briefing on day one, without a week of research.

    Agencies

Walk into a pitch or a planning session knowing what is changing for the client.

    The problem

Trend reports leave the hard part to you.

Most changes don't arrive as news. They arrive as a lost customer, a fine or a slow quarter.

    01

Too many trends, too little clarity

Everything is urgent. You can't tell what touches a business like yours, or what can safely wait.

    02

    Numbers you can't trace

Two reports, two forecasts, no sources. Where did that figure come from? Hard to show a bank or your team.

    03

“Interesting. But what does it mean for us?”

Trend reports stop at what's growing. Turning it into a decision, and a next step, is left to you.

    What you get

Four promises, built into every briefing.

The same four things for every trend, so you can judge each one in a minute.

    01 · Relevance

    Only what affects you

A filter built on your business, its size and its region: what matters, what to watch, and what can safely wait.

    02 · Time

    Early enough to react

Every trend says when it matters: act in the next 6 months, plan for the next 2 years, or keep an eye on it.

    03 · Action

A clear next step, not a report

Each trend ends with a first move you can start on. The plan then orders the moves and says who does what, so “interesting” becomes a decision.

    04 · Low effort

    No analyst needed

One sentence in. A few minutes later, a briefing you can read in minutes, with every source linked. No research team, no expensive report.

    Questions

    Straight answers.

How is this different from asking ChatGPT?+

A chat assistant answers from memory and can sound sure when it is not. Hence AI reads current sources for your business, checks each claim against them and shows the sources. Questions you ask are answered only from that evidence.

Where do the trends come from?+

News, trade press, regulators and other pages we search and read for your business, plus our own dated record of publisher headlines. Every trend lists its publishers.

    How accurate is it?+

Trends are signals, not forecasts. What we promise is that you can see the evidence and how strong it is. We test ourselves on fixed example businesses and publish the scores.

Is a trend a fad or here to stay?+

Each trend shows how long it has been in the news and whether it comes back yearly. Where the record is too thin to say, we do not guess.

Will it tell me what to do?+

Yes. Every trend has a first move, and the plan orders the moves by when they matter, with who does them and roughly how many working days.

What if there is little information about my business?+

We say so. Small or very local businesses get fewer well-evidenced trends, and weaker findings are labelled as developing signals.

Does it work outside the United States?+

Yes. It reads the place you name, in the local language, and looks for that market's rules. Coverage is thinner in smaller markets, and we show that.

Does company size change the price?+

No. A full briefing has one price. Company size still changes the briefing itself: a startup and an enterprise care about different things, so we judge relevance for the size you pick.

Should I buy one briefing or subscribe?+

If you want to understand one business, buy the one-time briefing. If you run briefings for many businesses or clients each month, a subscription gives you monthly credits. One credit is one new business briefing.

What happens to what I write?+

It is used only to research and write your briefing. Parts of it are sent to the AI models and search services that do that work, never with your name, email or IP address. Please do not include personal details about people. You can delete everything we stored for your business at any time. The privacy page (link at the bottom) explains it all.
